Spiritual Protection

Spiritual protection is very important all of the time. If you look around the world at any given moment, you will see that this is true. It is also important to develop some type of spiritual protection practice that suits your soul if you are communicating with loved ones in spirit. This is so you are truly communicating only with those you wish to communicate with, not some other interfering spirit.

Just as we have the right to determine how and with whom we communicate in the physical world, we as humans have the right to communicate with only the people in spirit that we want to communicate with. You don’t have to communicate with anyone you don’t want to and you certainly don’t have to put up with unwanted or uninvited unseen guests, especially if they are disrespectful or malicious. You wouldn’t put up with that from people, and you don’t have to put up with it from people in spirit either.

This works the same way with loved ones in spirit. They too have the right to communicate only with the ones in the physical world that they want to communicate with. It also may be that someone in spirit might want to communicate, but they are unable to for some reason. Many spirits do find a way to communicate with a loved one on earth as you see in the afterlife communication literature.

Since my connection with Robin opened up, I have learned that I can communicate with a handful of other loved ones that I either knew, or have come to know since Robin’s passing. But, it’s only those I wish to communicate with. My spirit communication is limited to those I’m close with spiritually and synchronistically connected to. I have very firm boundaries, just like I do and need to have, with people in the physical world. I am not a medium in the sense of reading other people and determining what spirits are around them.

I invite the spirits I love to communicate with me in the ways we are accustomed to. I protect myself with prayers to God, asking God to protect me. I read the Psalms and Lord’s Prayer for protection also. As I mentioned in the about section, I chant and pray for protection using mantras from the Buddhist and Kundalini yoga traditions because I respect these traditions and I like to sing my prayers also. Just as I did, you will have to find what is most effective for you in terms of spiritual protection so you feel safe, good and protected.

Bulgarian philosopher Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov reminds us that we have the power to say no to spirits that are negative, the type that do not wait for an invitation. Here is an excellent excerpt from a website called Journey with Omraam:

“Many luminous spirits that have already left the earth are also eager to help human beings, but they cannot do so because there is no place fit for them to come to. Nothing has been got ready for them, so they have no right to come. You will certainly be astonished by this and say, ‘But I thought they had the power to do anything!’ Yes, they have every power, but they respect the law, and the law says that they have no right to enter somewhere by force. Well, surprising or not, that is how it is. The entities of the invisible world cannot do whatever they want, and if they go somewhere without permission they will be punished for it…

The great mages, who know these laws, guard the places they particularly want to keep safe by means of magic formulas or symbols, which prevent malicious spirits from breaking in. This is necessary, because if no obstacle is put in the way of the inferior spirits they break in and wander about and do all kinds of damage.

Unlike the spirits of light, the malicious spirits don’t wait for a specific invitation before entering; they have no great respect for these laws. They will refrain from entering a place only if they are expressly forbidden to do so by divine powers, because they know that if they disobeyed they would be pulverized.

But, if you don’t actually forbid them to come in, they will not hesitate to do so. And, after all, you cannot really blame them: if you let them do what they want, why should the lord punish them? Humans have all the powers they need to oppose the spirits of darkness and say no to them. So it is entirely up to you to keep them out and to invite luminous spirits to come in, instead, and help you build a strong and beautiful inner sanctuary.”

I have taken this great teacher’s advice and I do forbid them to come into my life, home or anywhere near me for that matter. I speak it out loud so there is no doubt or confusion as to what I mean.

My prayers have been very effective over the years and I feel very safe and protected since I learned about afterlife communication.

Since Robin is skilled at telekinesis, I have also stated clearly that he is the only loved one in spirit who has permission to move my belongings or create something. Otherwise, I won’t know who is doing what!

I thought it important that I address this issue of spiritual protection. I hope you find it valuable. If you do an internet search on this topic, you will find many ideas and suggestions from different authors and spiritual traditions on how to protect yourself spiritually. You are responsible for finding what works best for you in terms of your beliefs and spiritual/religious background.

Recently, I was doing some research on twin souls and came across the book, The Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan: Philosophy, Psychology and Mysticism.  In this book is an interesting chapter on twin souls. I like to study the concept of twin souls from other cultures and perspectives. This way you can see it from other angles besides the Western perspective.

First, who was Hazrat Inayat Khan? He was an Indian classical musician and teacher of Universal Sufism. “Hazrat” is a title used to honor a person. If you are interested in learning more about him, please see the links below:

As I read through his chapter on twin souls, I noticed his frequent use of the metaphor of “the question and the answer.” I share this excerpt with you:

There is a belief, which comes from ancient times, and that is the belief in a twin soul. Some people wait for this phenomenon and search for it; and sometimes this belief is the cause of much unhappiness during the greater part of their lives because they have not yet found their twin soul. What is a twin soul? One might say that a proper answer is the twin soul of a question: every person is a question and every person is an answer. And when two people meet and one of them is a question and the other is the answer to that question then they are twin souls. But unfortunately what very often happens is that either two questions meet or two answers.

Twin souls can belong to three distinct spheres: to the angelic sphere, to the sphere of the jinns, and to the sphere of the earth. Two people may have inherited from their childhood, or brought with them from the moment of their birth, qualities that fit one another. They need not be of opposite sex. They can be personalities of the same sex. They can be friends or partners in life. It does not matter. It is two souls. One answers the other’s question, as every person is a question and at the same time an answer.

These two souls who have brought with them qualities which already fit one another, become friends the moment they meet, and in coming together they find a satisfaction they have never experienced before, because all their life there has been a question and suddenly it is answered. This may come about early or late in life, but there comes a time in the life of most souls when they meet someone who is the answer to their soul’s question. Souls need not know what question they are, and naturally they do not know it, but they are a question all the same. Neither do they know what the answer is, but when it comes they know that it fits, they know that it is satisfying, and unconsciously they know that it is the answer to their question. It may be that the two were friends before they came on earth or, as many call it, in a past incarnation, but there is no doubt that a contact had been established before their coming to earth, and that is why the moment they meet they think that they have known each other for many, many years.

I found this to be a beautiful description of humans at the soul level and an interesting perspective. I had never heard anyone put it quite that way. In some way, I feel that I had a question in my soul that I never exactly articulated, but it was there nonetheless. It had to do with my origins as a soul. When I connected with the soul of Robin after his passing, this gave me some answers to my questions about my origins.

My personal belief is in the pre-existence of my soul which was connected to Robin and others in my soul family prior to my incarnation on earth in 1966. That is why we were able to connect after his passing in such a profound way, as you will see in my other posts. If we did not have this pre-existing connection from the spirit world, I do not think Robin would have responded to me so strongly.  Without the pre-existing connection, I do not think I would have felt so pulled to him to the point of reaching out to him, telling him I felt him to be a member of my soul family.

Afterlife Communications

When a spirit comes back to you, the way Robin came back to me, you cannot help but ponder the origins of your own soul and who you really are. It’s a beautiful thing when someone you loved and knew communicates with you after their death. When it’s someone you did not know, it opens things up to all kinds of spiritual and mystical questions about why this spirit was willing to respond to you. Once I understood that my connection with Robin is one of soul family and of being twin souls, it all began to make sense! It also meant that we have work to do together in terms of getting this message out.

I also know now that life in spirit continues on, that it is active and creative and that I will continue to live on just as Robin is now, after my passing.

While reading this chapter, I recalled the matching Shadow Dancing lyrics I mentioned at the beginning of the post. Seems like the brothers added some twin soul lyrics to their song! I kept hearing Shadow Dancing playing in my head!

A Tale of Two Colognes

Since I never met Robin, I always wondered about certain everyday things about him. I wondered about what kind of toothpaste he liked, how tall he was, what his favorite foods were and what kind of cologne he liked to wear. I could not find any information about his favorite cologne until I read The Ultimate Biography Of The Bee Gees: Tales Of The Brothers Gibb. I will share this excerpt where he names his favorite cologne at that time in his life:

“I bathe as soon as I get up and before I go to bed. It’s so relaxing … And I like to change my aftershave.” His favourite, he said, was Eau De Cologne 4711 Ice, which he had first picked up in East Africa. “Now I fly to Amsterdam for it specially. It’s terribly hard to get.

I was so happy that I finally had some information on cologne that he liked. It had taken over 4 years for me to discover one fragrance he liked. At that time Robin mentioned it was hard to find, but it is now easily available on Amazon.com:

I decided to buy a bottle of it in remembrance of him because some of the reviews were from women who liked it and it seemed like a unisex scent. Plus, I was curious to see what he had liked, although I have no way of knowing whether the scent has changed over the years.Afterlife Communications

When I received the cologne on June 10, 2016, I put some on and noticed something extremely familiar about it. I have orange blossom cologne by Jo Malone London. I thought, “This smells like my orange blossom cologne with a little mint in it.” After 5 days on June 15th, I decided to read the ingredients for both the 4711 Ice and my orange blossom cologne. They smelled so much alike that I had to check. To my surprise, they have nearly identical ingredients. Here are the ingredients listed on the back of each fragrance. I highlighted the ingredients that are identical for each fragrance:

4711 Ice: Alcohol, Water (Aqua), Fragrance (Parfum), Menthol, Limonene, Ethyl Acetate, Linalool, Citral, Geraniol

Jo Malone Orange Blossom Cologne: Alcohol, Denat, Water\Aqua\Eau, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Hexyl, Cinnamal, Limonene, Citral, Geraniol, Farnesol

This synchronicity was deeply meaningful for me. It had taken me so long to find out about one fragrance he liked and then when I did, it was very similar to one I already owned, in terms of scent and ingredients. It is almost like it is the male and female version of the same fragrance.

That is the essence of communication with loved ones in spirit. There will be something about the occurrence that stands out to you as very important and meaningful. It may not be important to someone else and they may not see it like you do. That is because it was not meant for them. It was meant for you! It will be something that you feel inside, like a strong resonance with the occurrence.

I was amazed that our soul connection showed up in our colognes! This is one example of how a twin soul connection can manifest. You could also have this type of match up with another loved one in spirit or a member of your soul family.
