Fanny, Bee Gees, Keats and a Synchrony of Letters

Fanny, Bee Gees, Keats and a Synchrony of Letters

This post, “Fanny, Bee Gees, Keats and a Synchrony of Letters” is written to honor two of my favorite things: The Bee Gees’ song “Fanny (Be Tender with My Love)” and poet John Keats’ love letters to Fanny Brawne. I also share how a letter I wrote to a dear pen pal synced up with one of Keats’ letters to Fanny. At the end of the post, I share a surprise synchronicity.

I write this post in honor of Robin and Maurice Gibb’s birthday on December 22, 2021 on which they would have been 72 years old.

For a long time, I have been wanting to write a post connecting the song “Fanny” with Keats’ love letters. It’s the perfect combination. So to begin, I would like to share a little background about John Keats and his relationship to Fanny Brawne.

About John Keats and Fanny Brawne

Here is a brief summary about John Keats from Wikipedia:

John Keats (31 October 1795 – 23 February 1821) was an English poet prominent in the second generation of Romantic poets, with Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley, although his poems had been published for only four years when he died of tuberculosis at the age of 25.[1] They were indifferently received, but his fame grew rapidly after his death.[2] By the end of the century he was placed in the canon of English literature and an inspiration for the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, strongly influencing many writers; the Encyclopædia Britannica called one ode “one of the final masterpieces”.

Jorge Luis Borges named his first encounter with Keats an experience he felt all his life.[3] Keats had a style “heavily loaded with sensualities”, notably in the series of odes. Typical of the Romantics, he underlined extreme emotion with natural imagery. Today his poems and letters remain among the most popular and analysed in English literature. Especially acclaimed are “Ode to a Nightingale”, “Ode on a Grecian Urn”, “Sleep and Poetry” and the sonnet “On First Looking into Chapman’s Homer”.  (1)

According to an introduction written by Jane Campion in the book So Bright and Delicate-Love Letters and Poems of John Keats to Fanny Brawne by John Keats (2), Keats and Brawne came to love each other while they were both living at Wentworth Place, Hampstead, London in 1819. It was originally two semi-detached houses. Fanny lived in the house right next to where Keats lived. Therefore, they were very close neighbors that could see each other all of the time.

Initially, Keats was not very attracted to Fanny. But that changed over time. Although he was not considered to be financially sound enough to marry Fanny, Keats still gave her his mother’s garnet ring which she wore indicating an informal engagement.

It was during the summer of 1819 when John Keats went away on a writing retreat to the Isle of Wight that his love letters to Fanny began. They bore witness to the all-consuming love he felt for her at times. Ultimately, their love affair was cut short by Keats’ grave illness with tuberculosis and death at a young age. Thankfully, we have his letters to reflect on and be inspired by.

I’m sure the Bee Gees’ song “Fanny” would have come in handy for John Keats to share with Fanny Brawne if it had been available to him!

A Synchrony of Letters

During this past fall, I had felt the inspiration to write this post, but I was having trouble coming up with an idea of what to say. It had been on my mind in November and I had browsed through the love letters of Keats to Brawne in the book So Bright and Delicate a few weeks earlier, but still nothing came to me.

On November 27th, I spent time writing a letter through email to my pen pal Autumn Imara, who shares a twin soul connection with Jimi Hendrix. It just so happens that November 27th was Jimi’s birthday. We were sharing ideas about the similarities between Native American and African spirituality. Autumn shared an enlightened perspective about Thanksgiving and her Native American ancestors, which you can read about here.

I wrote to Autumn about my perspective on spirituality and I shared my feelings. I quote exactly what I wrote to her below. Both African and Native American spirituality have strong connections with nature:

I resonate with any type of spirituality that loves and honors God’s creation of nature including trees, flowers, plants, rivers, streams, oceans, the wind, sunlight, moonlight and wildlife. It is so rich and life enhancing. Our ancestors had a true connection and deep relationship with these elements which I respect. I love connecting with the rhythms of nature and consider this also a part of my spirituality.

After I wrote Autumn this letter, I felt a strong pull to go back and read Keats’ book So Bright and Delicate. I kept thinking of what I could write for a blog post. I flipped through some pages of the book again. And then I came across an amazing synchronicity in one of Keats’ letters to Fanny that matched what I just wrote to Autumn a couple of hours earlier. This was a letter I did not remember reading and had not marked the page in any way

Here is the quote. The bold is mine for emphasis:

Do you hear the Thrush singing over the field? I think it is a sign of mild weather-so much better for me. Like all Sinners now I am ill I philosophize aye out of my attachment to everything, Trees, flowers, Thrushes, Spring, Summer, Claret, &c. &c. – aye everything but you. (3)

I noticed the matching of “trees, flowers” and how both Keats and I wrote about them first on our list. He mentioned the bird Thrush and I mentioned wildlife. I typed out more aspects of nature which could have been included in his etc. etc.

I felt very moved by how my email letter to Autumn synchronized with John Keats’ letter to Fanny Brawne. I felt so joyful that my guidance to read the book again lead to this meaningful synchronicity. It means even more that it is two letters synchronizing and makes the message more powerful. I think it’s fascinating how energies converge like this. When aspects of my life connect so well with something to do with Robin, like a blog post I’m thinking of writing, I feel a true attunement with his spirit.

When I begin to engage with Robin’s energies in this way, I feel like I enter into a field of magnetism that pulls me right into something that will match with him. I kept feeling guided to read Keats’ book after I wrote to Autumn and now I can see why. The energies were flowing in just the right way.

While I was in the process of doing research for this post on Saturday, December 18, 2021, I received another synchronicity which continued to signify this attunement and alignment.

A Dog Named Fanny

On December 18th, my husband watched the Marvel Comics movie “Black Widow.” I didn’t watch it because I was busy reading about Keats and Fanny.

After a while, I needed a break from reading. So, I sat down close to him to hang out with him. The movie was nearing the end, so I just watched along, kind of detached because I did not know what was going on. 🙂

My husband wanted to watch the end credits of the movie because they show a scene introducing you to another upcoming Marvel movie. Therefore, I continued to sit with him to watch it.

I watched as a woman got out of a truck and then called to her dog. To my great surprise, her dog’s name is Fanny! I looked at my husband and said, “I can’t believe that dog’s name is Fanny.” Here are some screenshots:

I shared with him that I had just been thinking about the Bee Gees’ song “Fanny” and reading Keats’ letters to Fanny Brawne all afternoon. Then, I sit down to hang out with him during the last few minutes of a movie and encounter a dog named Fanny. What are the chances of that? It was an amazing connection with Robin’s spirit and the “Fanny” theme.

The timing was impeccable. It was like it was all meant to go together. I feel so grateful for this.

This is what I mean when I say that when it comes to Robin, the Universe magnetically pulls together events in my life that match and have to do with him in some way. It has been happening for years. It is synchronicity like this that leads me to feel the twin soul and soul family connection with him the strongest.

Robin really loved dogs so it’s nice that the synchronicity showed up as a dog named Fanny! He would like that.

I share this story and others on this website because I know that many people experience similar uplifting synchronicity when it comes to twin soul, soul mate or soul family connections. Sometimes it helps to see that someone else is experiencing the same thing, especially when the person involved is deceased. So, I hope you can find something you can relate to in the stories I write about concerning Robin’s spirit. I find great joy in writing about them.

Thank you very much for reading! I truly appreciate it and hope you enjoyed this. Happy Holidays to you and your family and a very blessed New Year.

Happy Birthday to Robin and Maurice in Spirit. You are remembered, cared for and very loved.

Seven Years in Spirit

Seven Years in Spirit

In honor of Robin’s seven year anniversary of being in spirit, I wrote a guided meditation. It’s my way of showing I love and care about him on this day. It’s something I thought he would like and hopefully, you will like it too.

If you are interested in other ways to acknowledge the death anniversary of a loved one, you may enjoy this article.

I reflected on the beautiful, spiritual songs the Bee Gees created for their Still Waters CD.

Their CD title reminded me of Psalm 23, verses 1-3. The bold is mine for emphasis:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. (1)

For me, these are some of the most peaceful, healing words in print. It is comforting to know that the spirit of God and Love lead and guide us. I often turn to the green of nature to heal my heart and soul. I love turning to still waters for spiritual restoration.

So, the Bee Gees’ CD and Psalm 23:2 is the inspiration for this meditation. I dedicate it to Robin to bless his spirit on this important day of his soul’s evolution.

Still Waters Meditation by Christina Samuels

I would like to take you on a gentle journey of healing and love.

Feel free to pause when you see ellipses (…).

Find a quiet place where you can be with yourself. Sit in a cozy, comfortable chair where you can just sink in and relax while you read this. Or, you can lie down wherever is best for you.

Begin to slow down now by turning your attention to your breath. Inhale slowly through your nose and exhale quietly through your mouth…Take a few slow, long, soft breaths to center yourself in the present moment…allow everything else to stop so you can breathe and focus…close your eyes for a few moments to do this…

Continue to allow your mind and thoughts to quiet down…quiet your mind…inhale gently through your nose…exhale slowly through your mouth…letting your emotions come to a place of peacefulness…letting everything slow down into serenity…as you inhale, your belly slowly expands…as you exhale, it sinks down in repose…

It’s time for your body to gradually release its tensions…as you breath slowly and calmly, your forehead and eyes relax…your lips, jaw and entire face relaxes…relaxation now flows down into your neck, shoulders, arms and hands…as you breath slowly, your chest and abdomen soften and relax…relaxation continues to flow into your hips… legs… knees… ankles…feet…and toes…feeling calm, serene and relaxed all through your body…and deep into your soul…inner quiet and peace fill your entire being…resting in stillness.

Now, in your mind’s eye, envision a quiet, still pond…you have come here for solitude, peace and healing which the pond freely offers you…the water is calm, clear and bluish-green… There are beautiful trees nearby providing you with shade and coolness…healthy and vibrant willow, maple and oak trees…the temperature is perfect…a soft breeze caresses your face…you look up into the cloudless, blue sky and feel so serene…the sun is shining, warming your face and body…

There is soft, tall green grass all around the pond that bring a feeling of gentleness…you notice how lush and green everything is…the freshness and newness of nature…the healing energy is powerful here…you are absorbing this powerful, but peaceful healing energy…breathing it in to every cell in your body…

Now that you have become acquainted with the pond’s surroundings, you are drawn into its’ stillness…you want to get a little closer…you see a path in front of you that will take you to the pond’s edge…slowly walking down this path now…getting closer to the pond and the quietness it offers…

You see colorful wildflowers off to the side of the path…buttercups…daisies…and violets…you take a moment to touch the soft velvety petals of the flowers…you also see some fragrant wild lavender in bloom… pretty, purple blossoms…soft green leaves…you bend down to touch the leaves…rubbing them gently between your fingers…releasing the fragrance and essential oils…breathing the softness of the green, the beauty of the fragrance into your heart center…filling your heart with softness, gentleness, and good feelings…

The sweet birdsongs of robins, sparrows and finches keep you company…you are surrounded by beauty, peace and unconditional love…

You have now reached the edge of the pond…it is very appealing to your senses…and you take a moment to stand here… you feel deep tranquility…breathing slowly and deeply…inner peace fills you…you are being led beside the still, quiet waters…

You notice now that the path meanders around, following the edge of the pond…you feel guided to begin walking again…a slow, quiet stroll…the only movement you notice are cattails swaying slightly in the summer breeze… you enjoy the interplay of sunlight sparkling on the water…out of the corner of your eye, you see beautiful blue iris flowers…everything about this places makes you want to stay…your body is relaxed and your mind is peaceful…you are enfolded in a nurturing, loving spiritual presence…

You’ve walked a little way now…and you are approaching a bench just off to your right…it is placed just perfectly under a large shade tree…it is one of your favorite trees…you decide to sit down on this bench and take a rest now…

You look at the bench and notice how beautiful and artistic it is…it is made of wood with the most gorgeous mother-of-pearl inlay…it shimmers in blue, pink and purple hues…there is a floral and leaf pattern embedded all throughout the bench…this feels like a very special place, one that was created just for you beside the still waters…

Here, you can restore your soul…meditate on the still waters of the pond…rest your mind…let it soothe your emotions…continuing to breathe slowly and easily…rest your eyes…birds continuing to sing their melodic song for you…the scent of wildflowers wafting by…ease and peace in your soul…

The bench is comfortable…and you take the time to reflect on your relaxing experience at the pond today…you feel more balanced and centered…your heart is filled with the peace that passes all human understanding…

You have allowed the essence of nature, the quiet, still waters, to be a soothing, healing balm for your inner spirit…the water, birds, flowers, trees and sunlight all intermingling together to care for you…they are always here for you if you open your heart to receive healing…In this sanctuary, you are loved and accepted just as you are…

Take a few more moments just for yourself in quietness and stillness…

Your still waters journey has come to an end for now. Take a moment to slowly move your legs, feet and toes, your arms and fingers…gently stretching your arms overhead… If it feels good to you, you can give yourself a gentle hug, while inhaling slowly, exhaling completely…. Allow your eyes to open when you are ready…hold in your being the peace you have acquired on your journey…

Thicker than Water

Thicker than Water

I introduce this post with one of my favorite Andy Gibb songs, (Love Is) Thicker than Water, which matches the theme of this post.

He is such a beautiful spirit and I would like to honor him with this:

In my previous blog post, A Robin’s Nest, I mentioned briefly how I grew up in an abusive family. It is something I have spoken with Robin about over the years. It is also why soul family is so important to me. Robin being a member of my soul family in spirit is just as important to me as him being my twin soul. Over the past twenty years, I have found that nothing truly replaces a lack of biological family connection. But having family in spirit, a loving spouse, and good friends on earth can help tremendously.

While doing research for my previous blog post, I came across my book by Brian Weiss called, Messages from the Masters: Tapping into the Power of Love.

He addresses the issue of family abuse in this section called, The Security of your Spiritual House, Chapter Five, pg. 103. I share it with you here because he made some excellent points that supported me in my life. Many people have suffered due to abuse, so by sharing this, I hope to help someone:

Sometimes your biological family is not your real family. Your parents, your siblings, and your other relatives may not understand you. They may not express love and caring to you.

But you must not allow yourself to be abused, whether psychologically or physically. You must not rationalize abuse as tolerable merely because its source is your family, your friends, or your religious community.

There is an old saying that says blood is thicker than water. This means that when times are tough and your friends or acquaintances may fail you, you can still usually count on your blood relatives to come through for you.

I say that if indeed blood is thicker than water, then spirit is thicker than blood. You can always depend on your spiritual family to be there for you.

Weiss, Brian. Messages from the Masters: Tapping into the Power of Love (pp. 103-104). Grand Central Publishing. Kindle Edition. (Underlining and bolding are mine).

Pre-birth Choices

There is a common belief among many people that we choose our parents. Brian Weiss says this in his book. I include this here in the spirit of healthy debate:

Our lives are not the result of random actions and events. Lifetimes are wisely and carefully scripted to enhance our learning and evolution. We choose our parents, who usually are souls with whom we have interacted in prior lifetimes.

Weiss, Brian. Messages from the Masters: Tapping into the Power of Love (p. 11). Grand Central Publishing. Kindle Edition.

That’s great if you have loving parents, but what if you didn’t? I’m not sure I agree with this belief, and I have never received any confirmation or proof of that.

I think it’s especially cruel to say that to a person who was emotionally, spiritually, physically and/or sexually abused by a parent. These experiences cause life-long soul damage and trauma. I think things are a lot more complicated than to tell someone callously, “You chose this.” How does anybody know what another soul supposedly chose in their pre-birth state? They don’t know. They just think they know. I have seen this belief used in damaging ways to wrongly accuse, judge, blame, criticize, and point the finger at people for their life circumstances. That is why I object to it so strongly. I have experienced it.

People need to think before they say that and know the history of who they are saying it to. Sensitivity and compassion are in order. If they chose something so horrible, and I’m not sure they did, then why?

Afterlife Communications

One spiritual advantage of this situation that I can see for myself is that by lacking warm, nurturing family relationships on earth, I was more open to connecting back with Robin and my spiritual family, my important family, on earth and in spirit. Perhaps if I had the loving family connections, I may not have been as open to such otherworldly relationships as I have now.

Another thing that occurred to me was maybe I wanted to be born into Massachusetts in 1966 so I could match up with Robin and his song. Perhaps the parents I was born to were the ones who were available to me at the time as a soul. It doesn’t mean I was meant to be with them for the rest of my life. Being born into a particular family should not become some kind of psychic prison built on a false sense of obligation.

Perhaps as a soul in my pre-birth state, I had no way of knowing that my parents would turn out to be abusive. Dr. Weiss says we choose our parents, but then it turned out that they weren’t my real family. Maybe I got the wrong script. How much can you really know as a soul, about the life you are about to enter, before you incarnate?

I don’t know if I will ever know the answer to these questions on this side of the veil. I think it’s possible we could plan some details of our lives, but that doesn’t mean we choose everything. There are too many variables involved.

My heart tells me that I did not choose to have abusive parents, but that I can choose my response to having abusive parents. I can choose which direction I will go in.

Afterlife Communications

I can choose to leave abuse behind and preserve my spirit, while also embracing the process of acceptance. I can choose to see the silver lining and any good they passed on to me. For example, I was born into a family with members whose birth dates match some of Robin’s family members’ birth dates as I wrote about in the Life Parallels post. Even if I was in a less than ideal family, my spiritual connection with Robin was still intact. For me, spirit is thicker than blood.

How these birth dates, among many other things, ended up matching is still beyond my understanding. Even with twin souls, not everything matches up. I’ve never been to even half of the places that Robin traveled to and performed in. But maybe, we arrange just enough matching life events so that we can see the pattern and connection we share later on.

I have more to say about this topic of pre-incarnation life planning in my upcoming post called Sparrow. There are many other perspectives. Ultimately, it’s most important for each of us to decide what is true in our own heart for ourselves. That will certainly be influenced by our own individual life circumstances.

Loving regards,

Christina

The Healing Power of Blue

The Healing Power of Blue

There was a great predominance of blue rays in the light, and that was why it was so wonderful a place for mental recovery…

Stead, W. T.. The Blue Island and Other Spiritualist Writings (Life on Other Worlds Series) (pp. 23-24). Square Circles Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Afterlife

After I read about the blue rays of healing light on the Blue Island, I wanted to do a little more research on the healing qualities of the color blue.

According to https://www.peacefulmind.com/energy-medicine/color-therapy/blue-energy/, blue has a multitude of healing properties which relate to the mental recovery William T. Stead was talking about (see Blue Island post for more information about him):

Blue is the color of purity and those who enjoy it, carry with them a sense of calmness, peace, serenity, and beauty. This energy is peaceful and soothing. Calming tired nerves, alleviating agony and the pain we suffer from physical stress. It has a pacifying effect over our nervous system and brings us great relaxation.

In using blue, it connects us to a spiritual and higher ground. The nature of blue energy is to connect our beings with the Cosmic Universe, from the interstellar to the cellular. It is associated with flow and communication on every level and is the color most connected to water and sky.

Blue in Healing:  Next to the balancing power of green, blue is the most healing color on the planet.  It is our emotional connection, which helps us on levels of understanding, creativity, empathy, appreciation and acceptance. Blue also is associated with a cool, cleansed, relaxed, calm, hopeful, protected, reassuring, trusting and accepting feeling. It inspires mental control, clarity and creativity. Blue has a direct effect on the autonomic nervous system.

Blue Gemstones

An interesting way to bring blue healing into your life is with the use of gemstones that are blue. From aquamarine to lapis lazuli, these stones carry many different benefits including calm and peace:

Blue-tinted lenses

Since Robin liked to wear blue-tinted lenses, I have provided a link from a reputable vision care insurance company which mentions the benefits of blue lenses as well as many other colors:

God as Blue Light

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

~1 John 1:5 https://biblia.com/bible/1John1.5

Some scientists have the belief that blue light is God. One such doctor is Dr. Pillai:

Dr. Baskaran Pillai is an international teacher, spiritual leader, humanitarian and scholar-mystic from South India. Dr. Pillai’s mission is to alleviate human pain and suffering in all forms through educational and humanitarian initiatives.

Below, I have provided a link where he gives a brief description of his belief in blue light being God. For example, in the Hindu tradition, the Gods are blue in color. They emanate blue light. In general, he teaches that God can be thought of in terms of light spectrum, and that blue light is especially important when considering God:

Here is a video of Dr. Pillai on YouTube giving a short teaching on the Blue Light:

Blue Meditation

Julian found this great book called Color Healing: An Exhaustive Survey Compiled by Health Research from 21 Works of the Leading Practitioners of Chromotherapy (1999), Reprinted by Health Research.

Afterlife

In this book, there is an article by Roland Hunt called The Seven Keys to Color Healing. I would like to provide some excerpts demonstrating his unique and knowledgeable perspective on healing with the color blue:

Color is a divine force used down the ages in healing on all levels of being. The 7 major glandular centers in the body are keyed to the 7 colors of the spectrum, and the individual’s mental and emotional activities affect the vibrations of these centers, as do the foods eaten…

He also states that the blue ray is sedative, cooling, electric, soporific, and astringent. It controls the throat chakra, the creative power center.

Below, I have provided his color breathing exercise which is like a meditation and then a beautiful affirmation on blue for deeper healing:

Afterlife

In the color breathing for blue, visualize a cloudless bright blue sky of an early summer morning being breathed into the lungs and absorbed by every eager pore in the body, and think of yourself as sailing high aloft above the earth and all the minute activities upon it, absorbed in the consciousness of blue.

Then give the affirmation:

O tranquil ray of sapphire blue, calm thou my mind

In solace new, in solace new,

Quench thou all fevers in coolness new, refreshing dew.

Tone thou my speech, O ray of blue,

And make it true, and make it true.

Help me to learn, O ray of blue

To rest in you, to rest in you.

Help me to learn, O ray of blue,

To speak anew, to speak anew.

Help me to learn, O ray of blue,

To sing in you, to sing in you.  (pg. 80)

After studying all of these different aspects of the healing power of blue, I can truly see why there would be a place in the afterlife where we can go as spirits to heal and renew ourselves before embarking on the next part of our journey.

Deep peace of the color blue to you,

Christina

Afterlife Communications: Blue Butterfly

Afterlife Communications: Blue Butterfly

This post is a follow-up to the post I wrote on The Blue Island.

While I was in the process of writing the post, which I wrote over the course of a couple of days, it occurred to me to ask Robin if he went to the Blue Island upon his passing. I had never asked him before, so I thought this was a good opportunity.

At 1:13 am on Monday, June 25, 2018 I wrote Robin this letter:

Beloved Robin,

Did you go to the Blue Island when/after you passed away? If yes, then please let me know with something to do with a BLUE BUTTERFLY.

…A blue butterfly or something related to that is the exact sign I ask for. Please make it so clear I cannot mistake it or doubt it! If this is 100% absolute TRUTH.

Thank you for your response.

I love you,

Christina

Today, June 27th, Julian and I went to an auto dealership to have work done on our car. At one point, a lady needed to walk by, so I backed up and said, “Excuse me” politely. She smiled.

A few moments later, I turned in the direction of where she walked. On the back of her shirt, I saw a blue sequined butterfly! I did a double take when I saw it. I thought to myself that it was my sign from Robin that I asked for.

I thought for a few moments about approaching her because I wanted a keepsake and evidence of the sign. I wanted to get a picture. I had to borrow Julian’s phone because I did not have mine with me. I got his phone and then approached her as she was coming in from outside. I asked her if I could take a picture of the blue butterfly and she said yes. She said she wore it in remembrance of her mother who passed away. I didn’t tell her that the same blue butterfly was a sign from Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, for obvious reasons, lol! But for me, it was a sign. Here is her pretty blue butterfly:

So, according to this sign, Robin spent some time on the Blue Island. This all comes down to trusting signs, like I wrote about in a previous post. There’s no point in asking for a sign and then not believing it when you get it in such an unexpected way. This is how loved ones in spirit communicate. I could have easily missed this lady. But we were at the same place, at the same time, for this meeting to occur and for the sign to be given. So, I trust and believe the sign. It’s not surprising Robin would have spent some time on the Blue Island. He knew about it sang about it after all.

Afterlife Communication

One thing I have learned over the years of communicating with  Robin, and other loved ones in spirit is that it is very effective to write a letter or at least write down the sign you ask for. This way, you can refer back to what you requested and you won’t doubt yourself if you don’t remember exactly what you asked for verbally.  It seems loved ones like it when we are very clear and ask for the truth with love and respect. I used all caps because I wanted to be very clear, not because I was screaming, like people do sometimes when writing a comment and making a point 🙂 !

I hope you have enjoyed this example of how I communicate with Robin.

Love and blessings,

Christina

The Blue Island

The Blue Island

The Blue Island is a fascinating book, originally published in 1922, about the afterlife communications between William T. Stead, his daughter Estelle Stead and Pardoe Woodman, an expert in automatic writing. William T. Stead was a passenger on the Titanic and passed away.

This is another way in which Blue Island is connected with Robin. Robin, along with his son R.J. composed The Titanic Requiem.

Shortly after his passing, William began communicating with his daughter Estelle through a voice medium.  Then, Pardoe came into the picture. Pardoe was a close friend of Estelle’s who initially became skilled in automatic writing as the result of the death of one of his close friends that he wanted to communicate with. He was able to apply his skills to work with William and was well able to record his experiences in the afterlife. The book is an account of William’s experiences in his new spirit life, on the Blue Island, recorded by Estelle and Pardoe.

There are some interesting things from this book that I would like to share with you and then I will discuss the Bee Gees’ beautiful matching song, Blue Island. The place that the Bee Gees are singing about is the same place William Stead was talking about.

Afterlife Communications

The first thing to know is that the Blue Island is not a permanent place where spirits dwell after passing. It’s a temporary rest stop, so to speak, according to William. This is his account:

I come now to the last days on the Blue Island and the taking up of our residence on the next and far more permanent world. The Blue Island is a transient life; a land for acclimatizing the newcomer, and as soon as he’s fit, he passes from it to what I might term the Real World, inasmuch as each one will be much longer on it than any has yet been on earth.

Stead, W. T.. The Blue Island and Other Spiritualist Writings (Life on Other Worlds Series) (p. 61). Square Circles Publishing. Kindle Edition.

As he states here, it is a place of recovery after crossing over:

Here there was no uncertainty about the impression; it was undoubtedly a blue which predominated. A light shade of a deep blue. I do not mean the people, trees, houses, etc., etc., were all blue; but the general impression was that of a blue land.  I commented upon this to my father—who, by the way, was considerably more active and younger than he was at time of death; we looked more like brothers. I spoke of this impression of blue, and he explained that it was so in a sense. There was a great predominance of blue rays in the light, and that was why it was so wonderful a place for mental recovery.

Stead, W. T.. The Blue Island and Other Spiritualist Writings (Life on Other Worlds Series) (pp. 23-24). Square Circles Publishing. Kindle Edition.

In Chapter 7, The Reality of Thought Communication, William asserts that any afterlife communication we have with a loved one in spirit is really thought communication. Here, he expands upon that:

In concentrating the mind on any one spirit person, you are sending out real, live, active forces. These forces pass through the air in precisely the same way as electric waves do, and they never miss their mark. You concentrate on Mr. A. in the spirit world, and immediately Mr. A. is conscious of a force coming to him. In this land we are much more sensitive than whilst on earth, and when thoughts are directed to us by people on your side, we have a direct call from those currents of thought thus generated, and we are practically always able to come in close contact with the person who is thinking of us…

Afterlife Communications

Anyone who sits for a moment and allows his mind to dwell on some dear one who has “died” will actually draw the spirit of that person to himself. He may be conscious or unconscious of the presence, but the presence is there.  If people on earth realized the result of their thoughts upon those to whom they refer, they would be very much more careful in giving their mind free play.

So, it seems that when I was concentrating on Robin, I was drawing his spirit to me without really knowing it back in 2012. However, there may be more to it than that. The spirit also has to feel drawn to the person on earth thinking about him, as is mentioned in this book Angels and Other Beings of Light by Linda Stein-Luthke and Martin F. Luthke (Kindle Locations 753-756):

Each time you think of the one who has departed you call this being back to you. As with all the beings of Light, all you need do is think of a disembodied being of Light, and he or she is drawn to you, whether you wish to consciously acknowledge such or not. These beings will feel free to openly and easily respond to this connection with you, provided they are also feeling drawn to you.

So, both books are saying very similar things. When someone on earth and someone in spirit are drawn to each other, this is the point at which fulfilling afterlife/thought communication could occur. I don’t think it’s just a passing thought that establishes the connection, but concentrated thought, a dwelling on the person in spirit that makes the connection, like William said. As much as I like Donna Summer, I don’t think she’s going to be drawn to me just because I have a passing thought about how much I like her music.

The only thing I would add to what William is saying is that I strongly believe the heart is also involved, not just the mind and thought. It is the element of the heart, or love, which can open the door to this communication. Loving spirits respond well to genuine love and care. I offer this quote to elaborate upon this point:

“I have made no secret of my conviction, not merely that personality persists, but that its continued existence is more entwined with the life of everyday than has been generally imagined; that there is no real breach of continuity between the dead and the living and the methods of inter-communion across what has seemed to be a gulf can be set going in response to the urgent demand of affection…as Diotima told Socrates, love bridges the chasm.”

~Sir Oliver J. Lodge (1851-1940)

Bee Gees: Blue Island

Here, I offer this excerpt to explain the thought and beautiful sentiment behind the song Blue Island:

In August, The Bee Gees announced their intention to play a benefit concert for the children of war-torn Bosnia. “I really am angry that our governments can’t unite in some way and do something to stop this kind of violence when it occurs,” Barry declared. “To stop the conflict that is going on in the former Yugoslavia as well as just be able to stop conflicts that go on all over the world. My greatest fear, personally, is that all of these things are going to start occurring at the same time, and the United Nations is going to become impotent. And, if it isn’t already happening, it’s definitely foreseeable.”

Afterlife

Although the concert didn’t come off, they dedicated a song from their forthcoming album to the children whose young lives were blighted. “At the end of the First World War, there was an enormous amount of spiritualism. This is probably because so many millions of people died in the … war that there was an upheaval of families wanting to contact their lost ones. Now from that came a combined opinion from spiritualists that the other side … what we call heaven … in fact is blue and it’s an island. And from there, for the want of a better word, we’re processed before we move on to our next reality. Good or bad, this is where we all end up. So we [wrote] a song called ‘Blue Island’ and dedicated it for the children of Yugoslavia, because even though they may not survive, the hope is that they, as well as us, are all going to this beautiful place.”

What Barry is talking about here is exactly what happened to Sir Oliver J. Lodge, a Christian spiritualist. His son Raymond was killed in action in World War I. Sir Oliver communicated with his son in the afterlife and his experiences are documented in his book, Raymond or Life and Death (1916):

Afterlife

I hope you enjoyed taking a deeper look at the Blue Island with me. It enriched my understanding and enjoyment of the Bee Gees’ song after I read more about this heavenly place.

All my best to you,
